Luis Salinas is a self-taught guitarist from Argentina. Before traveling abroad with his

music, Luis made a very important name for himself in his country and is currently

acclaimed to be the ambassador of their musical culture.

In 1993 was invited to play in the UMEA Jazz Festival in Sweden. His musical travels

have taken him to some of the most renowned world stages, including the famed

Montreux Jazz Festival where he played for the 30th

representing GRP Records. While in New York, Luis recorded two CDs for the GRP label,

“Salinas” in 1996, which was produced by famed producers Tommy LiPuma and Ricky

Peterson, and “Rosario” recorded with the famous pianist, Bob James. It was because

of these opportunities in New York that Luis came to the attention and admiration of

such luminaries as George Benson who has touted Luis as amongst their very favorite

guitarists in the World.

Luis Salinas has won numerous awards during his extensive career, including many

Latin Grammy`s nominations.

Luis was invited to Central America by the great Chucho Valdez and played to an

audience of 30,000 concert goers in Havana. Chucho Valdez says of Luis, “I doubt there

could be two guitarists in the world who could play as well and know the guitar as well

as Luis Salinas. He is out of this world!”

Luis Salinas is an incredible vocalist as well as being one of the premier guitarists in the

world. His friend, famous Argentine singer, Mercedes Sosa says of Luis, “His unique

skill to give expression to the music of our composers with his guitar is equaled by the

depth and intimacy of his singing and interpretation of the words of our poets”.

Luis has the unique ability to play the most beautiful renditions of the indigenous

music of Argentina and then segue easily into north American jazz, Latin and blues. He

is equally adept at and excels at both styles. One of his dreams came true when he was

asked to share the stage with BB King in Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires and San Pablo.

Luis Salinas is an artist whose star has been shining brightly in his home country

of Argentina and abroad for many years already, and with his immense talent, his

career will flourish for many years to come. His CDs are a joy to listen to and his live

performances are an incredible and intimate experience, which will leave you wanting

more Salinas!

“Luis is one of the best guitarists in the world, technically and for my personal taste. He

is simply complete.” Tomatito
